Our Oak Haven guesthouse is a nice place to spend a relaxing day, or a comfortable place to return to after a day of exploring. You'll be 5-7 minutes from the the Claremont Village and the Claremont Colleges (Pitzer College, Pomona College, Scripps College, Harvey Mudd College and CMC). Enjoy the french bakery for breakfast and hike the Claremont 5-mile loop, less than a mile away. A small library of books and a beautiful patio and pool area to drink your morning coffee or unwind at the end of the day. The 450-square-foot guesthouse feels spacious with its 10-foot ceilings and is located on a large ¾-acre lot.

The detached guest house offers complete indoor privacy, so you can relax and unwind.

You'll have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other streaming apps on the Roku TV which you can rotate toward the bed if you like.

The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking supplies: a drip coffee maker, pour-over coffee supplies, local coffee, hot water kettle, teas, spices and oils, and sharp knives.

Outside, the Mediterranean-landscaped garden with a pool and patio area is shared with the other mini guesthouse as well as your hosts. You may see us in the yard, but we do like to give our guests space while they are enjoying it.

The pool is not heated. It's warm roughly from late June through October. Even in the off-season, you can enjoy reading or a glass of wine, poolside.

Our people-loving dog, Chico, will hang out with you in the yard, if you like that. If not, just let us know. He's gentle and has good manners but is not allowed in the guesthouse.

The detached guest house is located at the end of our front driveway within a fenced-in garden behind our home.

Guests enter through a *separate* driveway and secured gate at the rear of the property.

When possible, we enjoy meet our guests face-to-face at least once during their stay and are always happy to make restaurant or sightseeing recommendations.

Your experience is important to us. You might see us come and go or tend to our vegetable garden, but we definitely try to give you your space.

The historic home is on a main road that goes up to Mt. Baldy in an area that was formerly lemon groves and horse properties. In the neighborhood now, you'll now find many large houses on spacious one-acre lots.

Although there are no sidewalks for several blocks around us, many locals and guests enjoy a morning/evening walk.

The neighborhood does not have street lights, so the streets and the sky are very dark at night. You may hear or see coyotes and an occasional owl.

You will be a few blocks (less than a mile) from supermarkets, Von's and Whole Foods, as well as pharmacies and an urgent care.

With its compact size, all of Claremont's amenities will be within easy reach by car.

You'll also be close to hiking trails, mountain activities, and the 210 Freeway for easy access to the Greater Los Angeles area.

Claremont is small, but you’ll need a car or app driving service to get around town. We are a 5-minute drive to the Colleges and Claremont Village. Easy access by car to the 210 Freeway.

AIRPORTS

ONTARIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Ontario International (owned by LAX) is a 16-minute drive to the house. If it’s convenient for your itinerary, Ontario Airport is by far the easiest and least stressful way to get to Claremont. We highly recommend it! You

ONTARIO AIRPORT RENTAL CARS/SHUTTLE INFO
Airport Shuttles
The shuttles run every 5-20 minutes, with shuttles departing less frequently between 12:30 am and 3 am.

At Terminals 2 & 4, shuttle pick up and drop off are stationed at the Terminal islands (located between the parking lots and the terminal buildings).

At the Rental Car Facility, shuttle pick up and drop off are located in front of the building.

Airport shuttle requests for pick-ups or drop-offs at the International Arrivals terminal or USO can be requested via an in-shuttle stop request or via phone 24 hours/day.

LAX AIRPORT: Los Angeles Airport is roughly 1 hour away without traffic, but that is under perfect conditions (pretty rare) and usually means leaving for LAX no later than 5:30-5:45am. Depending on when you arrive at LAX (let's say after 3:30pm, it could take 1.5 - 3 hours with traffic to get to Claremont. These are just estimates, of course, and every day is different.

TRAINS/METROLINK
From here, it’s a 7-minute drive to the Claremont Train Depot where you can catch the Metrolink train to Downtown Los Angeles (Union Station) in about 45 minutes. From there, you can walk or call a ride to get to Little Tokyo, Chinatown, and Olvera Street, MOCA, and the Broad Museum.

If going to Hollywood, you can catch a subway line from Union Station that goes to Hollywood and Vine/Highland for sightseeing.

• We are on a main road that goes up to Mt. Baldy in the foothills of Claremont.

• There is also another guesthouse on the property, but it is sectioned off by a fence and you will have your own separate patio and parking areas.

• We have a strict no smoking policy anywhere on the property.

• Pool is unheated and warm roughly late June-October, depending on weather.

• We are not able to accommodate infants and young children as our pool area is not fenced.

• We live on the premises. You may see us in the yard, but we do like to give our guests space while they are enjoying it. The back yard is large with lots of space for all.

• The hot tub is not a listed amenity and is not regularly maintained.

• The stepping stones are not completely smooth, and you may have to walk on some gravel on the patio (see pictures).

Rates & Availability

Cancellation Policy: One hundred percent (100.00%) of the total booking charges will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 15 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 15 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
